[Meaning of the Pattern]

This pattern is a stylized representation of decayed wood or worm-eaten boards. It generally features vertically flowing motifs, but when positioned horizontally, it resembles clouds—a variation known as kuchiki (decayed wood). Such designs are often used in Shinto shrine festivals and rituals.
