[Meaning of the Pattern]

This pattern is a stylized design inspired by the surface of decayed wood or worm-eaten boards. The base design features vertically flowing lines, but when placed horizontally, it resembles clouds—this variation is referred to as kuchiki (decayed wood). Such patterns are often used in Shinto festivals and rituals.
