This urushi lacquer finish is crafted by a Kyoto-based group of artisans who specialize in the interior and exterior finishes and restorations of many famous shrines and temples. While respecting traditional urushi work, they incorporate unique materials and techniques in the coating and polishing processes to achieve a one-of-a-kind texture. These finishes can be used not only for art panels but also as finishing materials for furniture and fittings, such as tabletops.
